ABOUT US

Eliane Delage Guitar Ensemble (EDGE) is an all-inclusive group of guitar players of all background and skill levels. What began in June 2013 as NYC Beginner’s Guitar Orchestra, Eliane Delage created a group in which musicians can learn, grow, and feel confident within a positive environment.  Nearly four years and thirteen shows later, EDGE has served as a welcoming platform for dozens of musicians - including guest singers, saxophonists, drummers… and of course, guitarists and bassists! - to do what they love; to play music.  So if you love playing guitar or at least being surrounded by guitar lovers, come join us!  No matter what is your level of ability, we have a part for you to play!

This group welcomes guitar players of ALL LEVELS. Yes, you can join if you're a total beginner, guitars, basses and ukeleles welcome, there will be a part for you to play! We'll play arrangements of popular songs and perform at venues in NYC.

Arrangements are written for distinct guitar parts that generally follow this criteria:

GUITAR 1: Simple accompaniment; ideal for beginners playing 3 years or less; open chords, power chords and simple bass lines.

GUITAR 2: Melody and add-ons; ideal for players comfortable with rhythm involving eighth notes, eighth rests, basic lead skills, comfortable with strumming.

GUITAR 3: 16th note rhythm, 7th chords, extended chords, altered chords, barre chords

GUITAR 4&5: Solo and fxs; ideal for players comfortable with lead guitar, sixteenth notes, ties, slides, bends, hammer ons/pull offs and able to manage their instrument levels, fx pedals and dynamics.

To participate;

  • You must bring your guitar

  • You must download and bring your chart to follow (to download you'll need a password you get upon RSVP on meetup)

  • You must be able to follow charts (tablature or standard notation)

What the EDGErs have to say!

The irony is that even though I do know my parts perfectly at home, playing with the others in the group is the second challenge.  I know I'm gaining an experience I would NEVER have had.  Getting the timing down, learning to play without being distracted by others playing is something you don't get by playing in your living room.
